Role Purpose

This role oversees, aligns, and sets standards for advanced practice providers across BJCMG ambulatory, hospital medicine, and specialty practices to ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements. It reports to Chief Medical Officer and collaborates with Physician and Operations leadership to develop strategy and processes to ensure high standards of patient care through proper credentialing, collaborative practice arrangements and professional development. The position works to build strong strategic partnerships and coalitions to advance the APP practice and their role as a direct patient care provider within the ambulatory setting. It supports advocacy efforts for legislative changes allowing APPs to practice at the top of license and education.

Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Collaborates with BJCMG Credentialing Committee to develop processes for credentialing, onboarding, and monitoring of collaborative practice agreements to ensure all requirements (licensure, standards of patient care expectations and supervision) are met.
  • Provides leadership for ongoing APP standard work, practice maintenance and evaluation, including template review and starts of patient care for BJCMG specialties. Analyzes clinical, workforce, and financial data regarding APPs to promote efficient utilization of resources and quality improvement.
  • Maintains oversight and responsibility for BJCMG APP Residency, including development/maintenance of curriculum, monitoring external vendors for resources, and planning towards accreditation of APP professional development program.
  • Facilitates BJCMG APP Council: develops content for annual meeting, engages with APPs on topics, subcommittees, and professional development initiatives.
  • Serves as bi-directional voice of BJCMG APPs through regular attendance and engagement with Physician Leadership across all regions and service lines and conducts regular check-ins and support for APPs serving as Service Line Council members.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

Role Purpose

Utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in a specialized area to coordinate, manage and evaluate the delivery of quality patient care. Serves as a role model, mentor, and preceptor for others. Enters into a formal collaborative practice agreement with physician(s) to support a designated clinical service.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the health care of select patient populations through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Coordinates the care of select patient populations to ensure promotion of health and wellness through education of patients and families, coordination of services and placing referrals.
  • Assesses development needs of staff and develops and delivers appropriate educational programs to meet staff needs.
  • Develops treatment plans, treats patients with acute problems including illnesses and minor injuries following a predetermined protocol.
