Instructor: Mike Thiemann, Division Chief of External Affairs & Emergency Management

Have you ever thought, "What would I do if a tornado struck my subdivision or my hospital?" or "What types of natural disasters can happen in our area?" We have the answers...this workshop will present an overview of information that prepares you to help yourself, your family, coworkers and neighbors in the event of a crisis in your community. It is based on a program known nationally as Community Emergency Response Team Training (CERT). This workshop will cover one element of the training which is how to become more disaster preparedness oriented. Participants will take a look at how things change in the event of a disaster and how they can make a difference in a mass casualty incident.

Attendees that register by June 21st will receive a first aid kit bag, Official CAT tourniquet, SAM splint and other goodies.

    Exhibit & Sponsorship Opportunities

We cordially invite you to exhibit at 2019 MOAPA Primary Care Update. This activity is provided by the Missouri Academy of Physician Assistants.

The target audience for the conference includes over 125 physician assistants and any other healthcare providers of interest who wish to attend.

Throughout the country thousands of PAs practice in various specialty and primary care settings; writing millions of prescriptions each year. At the 2019 MOAPA Primary Care Update, more than 100 of those PAs and their nurse practitioner colleagues will be in attendance. Exhibitors will benefit from the conference’s scheduled exhibitor times each day, the exhibit hall card program, and additional benefits to each exhibitor/sponsorship level to give maximum opportunity to interact with attendees.

Your support of the PA profession is greatly appreciated and we look forward to working with you to make this conference a success.

Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (E-FAST) refers to the use of ultrasound to diagnose intraperitoneal hemorrhage, hemothorax, hemopericardium and pneumothorax in trauma. This has applications in trauma as well as medical patients with iatrogenic pneumothorax, parapneumonic effusion, ascites and other common conditions. The workshop will evaluate the utility of the E-FAST exam and it strengths and weaknesses. You will learn how to interpret images from the exam. You will also be able to recognize when E-FASt is appropriate in the setting of the patient evaluation and when further or alternative testing is appropriate.
